LETTER

      february 2006

on the land

1-2  First work day of the new year! Sue carries buckets of rock and sand to  put around the new pump house and tanks

here being admired by Azima (then Rabiya) and Krishna Paul.  Rashad has designed and constructed a much improved system for kitchen and showers.

1-11  K Paul's son Alex comes for a visit.

1-15  Muriel likes leftover tamales.

1-16 This is the spring box, across the creek ...

and this is somebody's home nearby.

1-25  Finally, after almost four months, some rain.  This is dawn from the Homestead

and here are nearby mountains from the mesa

1-28  This  is the 'second' streambed carved by last winter's flood -- suddenly dry???
Some creative rock moving on Krishna's part  has directed all the water into one bed, and started a new summer soaking spot in Bear Creek.

1-30  Rashad says, "I really like cutting wood."

This was not the moment he said it -- just after the chain saw blurped oil all over him.
